Things are really heating up over at Nintendo’s Retro Studios clubhouse. They have been on a massive hiring spree all year, grabbing some of the best AAA development talent available in the industry. All of this however seems to not be an indication the game is still a long ways off however, if recent hiring posts are any indication.
They are looking to add 3 quality testers to their team, a position not often hired for unless there is a playable pre-alpha version of the game ready to go. With a pre-alpha version of the game likely almost ready for testing, this likely indicates a 2021 release.
This would be rather interesting, as 2021 is the 35th anniversary of the Metroid franchise. It would also be a rather quick turn around, considering the earliest Retro Studios began development was late 2018. However, we are unsure if any of the already created assets by the prior developer of the game was able to be used or salvaged.
Metroid Prime 4 is one of the most anticipated already announced games for Switch, having initially been teased with a logo back at E3 2017.
